I hope everyone had an enjoyable March Break and is feeling excited for spring.

Today in Math we reviewed the concepts covered in Chapter 6,  section 1 before the March Break, namely: finding factors of a number, using divisibility rules, common factors and  using a greatest common factor to reduce a fraction to lowest terms.  Students were assigned a handout titled “Chapter 6 Factors and Multiples” and were asked to use the divisibility rules to complete the questions and  explain why a number is divisible or not.

This handout is for homework .

Students will not have Math class tomorrow, Day 3 because they will be attending the M.A.D.D. presentation from 9:00-10:00.

REMINDER:  Please make sure your child has returned a completed permission slip for the Grade 7 Health  Sexuality Unit by  Friday, March 26th. (If you need another copy of the permission slip please let me know.)

Today in Math I handed back the 3rd Chapter 4 mini-quiz and the Chapter 4 test.

Many students were able to improve their marks on the test. We reviewed divisibility rules and started the activity on p. 199 of their textbook. ex. Is 28 divisible by 2, 3,  and/or 4?  Students should use the Divisibility Rules chart they copied in class last week  (or it can be found on p. 206) to complete the homework.

 All students must complete Mathlinks textbook p.199 #3 &4 and p. 200 #5 & 6  for tomorrow.

Today our class is continuing to work on Chapter 6: Introduction to Fraction Operations while the music students are in music class.

There isn’t any homework for tonight but you may wish to discuss  commonly used fractions and equivalent fractions and talk about real life examples of places we would find and use these fractions.

ex.

1/2          3/4         2/3        1/5     etc.

1/2 =2/4

1/5=20/100

2/6= 1/3
